Welcome!
Our infant room has eight children ages three months to two years olds. We provide a warm and nurturing environment, and follow each child’s individual needs.
We do many sensory activities such as cornstarch magic, sand, water, mud, music, sensory exploration boards, boxes filled with loose parts (seashells, fur, fabrics, wood, bark, and rocks), etc.  We also implement finger painting activities and messy art.
In the Infant room we see children as competent, confident, and capable learners.  We support them in all their learning exploration from risk taking to sensory play activities.  We provide them with a loving and safe environment that allows them to engage, build relationships, and become active learners.
The Infants have opportunities to explore the environment on their own and interact with other children.  The dramatic play/kitchen area consists of real safe materials you would find in your own home.  Our room has a wide variety of toys, books, and loose parts made from natural or recycled materials.  Things you would find are wood, fabrics of different textures, various tin containers, wooden blocks, cardboard tubes, and other loose parts.  We believe that children benefit from playing with materials from natural elements.  It provides them with a rich sensory exploration by touching, smelling, tasting, and seeing.  It also creates an open-ended play for them.
We encourage our families to visit their children when they are able. Doing plenty of visits with your child in the infant room is extremely important in a positive transition when your infant starts attending the centre.
