At Seven Oaks Child Day Care Centre we feel it is important to build relationships with not only our families but in our community. We are always looking for ways the children can participate in philanthrope and show them they can make a difference no matter how small.
The Owls have partnered with the hospital and have been doing monthly visits with the Day Hospital. The group visits with the seniors and we sing, read stories, do crafts and build friendships with the "Grandma's and Grampa's" affectionately named by the seniors themselves. It is magical watching the multigenerational learning that happens between the children and the seniors.

December 2022 The owls decided to collect clothing for coats for kids. They worked very hard making posters and sharing their message with the other rooms. They wanted to help everyone who needed warm clothing to help battle our Manitoba winters. Their goal is collect 50 items.
Summer 2022 we were able to connect with Community 204 which is a youth based organization that helps people who are struggling in our community. We know that not everyone has access to clean water. We felt that because we are fortunate to have access to clean water we wanted to find a way to give back. We collected used water bottles and bottled water that community 204 was able to hand out to people in need during our very hot summer. We were also super excited to see that they were able to use our donations to start their first hydration station.

The Budgies are collecting donations for Winnipeg Harvest! In their sensory exploration the Budgies have been using different food items. As educators, we came together and talked about how fortunate we are to have access to clean water and food security. We feel it is important to give back to the community and not take for granted the experiences we are able to give the children. This inspired the Budgie educators to partner with Winnipeg Harvest and give back to the community which we all serve. If you are able to help out this organization please do.
